Glide Techniques

This sleight enables you to retain the bottom card of the deck and deal the next card as if it were the bottom card. So that you can produce the bottom card at any time.

Transfer the selected card to the bottom of the deck using a false shuffle or some other technique.
Let's see two ways to perform this particular sleight of hand:
  1. Hold the deck in your right hand, face down (in the photo 1 it’s face up to show you), with your fingers over and around the cards. With your little and ring finger, draw back the bottom card one or two centimeters (Photo 2). Now, when you take cards from the bottom of the deck, you will avoid the selected card, which will remain at the bottom. If your fingers don’t grasp enough of the card, I recommend you to dampen your fingers a little bit so that they will be able to draw back the bottom card.

When you pick up the bottom card, it really seems it’s the bottom (Photo 3). The spectator believes you pick up the 2 of Diamonds but in reality it’s the 2 of Clubs.

  1. Hold the deck on the long side, with your index and ring finger, you rotate the bottom card (Photo 4), so that you can easily pick up the 2 of Clubs instead of the 2 of Diamonds" (Photo 5 and 6).

Whenever you wish to take out the selected card, simply move the card forward into position with your little finger. Then withdraw it from the deck as normal.
